Update on New Train Station in Pelletsown

The new Pelletstown train station is due to open in September, with construction nearing completion at the end of July.

The fully self-service train station will have two platforms, a footbridge and accessible ramp access between platforms and to the railway, as well as a second footbridge and accessible ramp over the canal. The platforms will have tactile paving for people with impaired mobility or sensory impairments, lighting, ticket vending machine, CCTV, public information systems and platform furniture.

I am pleased that the footbridges will improve access between both Ashington and Royal Canal Park for cyclists and pedestrians, as well as providing access to the Greenway.

Bicycle parking will also be provided, as well as dedicated accessible car park spaces, adjacent to Ashington Park.

Irish Rail will be monitoring car parking in the vicinity during the first six months of operation and will provide updates to Dublin City Council Roads and Traffic Division, which was a condition of the planning permission.
