Meet Roderic.

I grew up in Dublin 15 and I live in Blanchardstown village with my husband Ray. In February 2020, I was humbled and delighted to be elected as the Green Party TD for Dublin West. In June 2020, I was privileged to be appointed as Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth when the coalition government was formed. Prior to my Dáil Éireann election, I served on Fingal County Council representing the Castleknock LEA for six years, having been first elected in 2014 and re-elected in the 2019 Local Elections.

As a local TD and Minister, my priorities are making childcare more affordable for parents, ensuring the availability of affordable homes in Dublin West, expanding and improving public transport, increasing the availability of school places for children, tackling climate change and protecting our local green areas.

I’m passionate about ensuring children and young people can receive the best start in life through quality childcare, schooling, access to further or higher education and the availability of youth services. Before being elected to the Dáil, I worked as a lecturer in DCU, I have served on the board of management for five local schools, including Coolmine, Scoil Choilm, Danu Special School, Pobail Setanta and Castleknock Community College. I understand the importance in investing in educational, vocational and mental health facilities and services for children and young people.

As a life-long environmentalist, I have always believed that protecting nature starts in our own neighbourhood. I have worked with local group to protect and enhance our community spaces and am a founder member of Blanchardstown Tidy Towns.
