Update: Royal Canal Greenway (and the news is positive!!)

At the Fingal Council meeting in early December, my motion looking for a report on the timeline for the Royal Canal Greenway was discussed. I attach the report below and a link to the discussion which you can watch here.

The good news from the discussion is that the Council plans to seek planning permission for the Greenway in 2019, with a view to having the work completed in 2020. This is a significant improvement, as I had previously been told that they would only be applying for planning permission in 2020, with a completion date of 2021.

Obviously, we have to keep an eye on this schedule, but I'm pleased to see a more rapid timescale.

I also asked that the Council engage with Waterways Ireland to undertake some repairs on the particularly dangerous sections of the towpath in the interim.
