Statement on the death of Detective Garda Colm Horkan

The death of Detective Garda Colm Horkan reminds us that every day, members of An Garda Síochána put themselves at huge risk to keep our communities safe.

The outpouring of grief from colleagues and from the wider community in Roscommon and in Mayo tells us the type of man that Detective Horkan was: deeply embedded in his community, conscious of his role to give back to others.
