O’Gorman welcomes planning permission and funding for new dental hospital at Connolly
Green Party Dublin West TD Roderic O’Gorman has welcomed the announcement by the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) that they have received planning permission for a new state of the art dental training facility on the Connolly Hospital campus. The new building, which will open in September 2027, will be a training facility for ‘community dentists’.
Planning permission has been granted for a 4,000m2 building which will be located beside the recently opened RCSI Education and Research Centre at Connolly Hospital. It will provide state-of-the-art clinical dentistry facilities, with 40 dental chairs and the full range of supporting infrastructure such as intra-oral x-rays suites, clinic space, central sterilization services and patient welfare facilities. The building is also going to provide new facilities for clinical day services for patients using Connolly.
The Higher Education Authority has also announced the funding to support this new Community Dentistry programme being operated by RCSI.
“I’m delighted that the Royal College of Surgeons have picked Connolly Hospital as the training location for their new Community Dentistry programme. Not only will this programme see more dentists trained in Ireland, it will also offer additional dentistry facilities here in Dublin West, which the community will benefit from” said Minister O’Gorman.
