€17m for cycle lanes and footpaths across Fingal

Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Roderic O’Gorman TD has welcomed €17 million investment to support the delivery of walking and cycling infrastructure across Fingal. The investment is part of an overall spending of €290m for approximately 1,200 active travel schemes nationwide, and has been announced under the National Transport Authority (NTA) Active Travel Investment Grants for 2023.
The funding will support the development of segregated cycle lanes, widened footpaths, new walking and cycling bridges and new pedestrian crossings.
Welcoming the funding for Fingal projects, Minister Roderic O’Gorman TD said:
“I am delighted that more than €17m is being allocated to support the delivery of cycle lanes, wider footpaths, and the delivery of more safe routes to school projects and school zones across Dublin 15. Having seen the benefit of these projects like the one at St. Philip the Apostle National School in Mountview, these projects will make it easier for our children to cycle to school safely, taking cars off the road and reducing traffic.
Spending on cycle lanes and footpaths has increased more than six-fold since the Green Party entered government. That’s the sort of change voters asked for and we are delivering on our promise.”
