A New Way to Explore the Phoenix Park: The 99 Bus Service

I was delighted to attend the launch of the 99 Bus earlier this month. This new bus service, which started on the 8th of October, marks an exciting addition to the transport options in and around the Phoenix Park. With its diverse route and convenient schedule, the 99 Bus is set to make a significant impact on how people experience this historic and expansive urban park. Services will run every 30 minutes 9am to 6pm Monday to Sunday.

A Game-Changer for Phoenix Park Visitors

The 99 Bus offers an incredible opportunity for visitors to explore Phoenix Park more conveniently. Departing from Parkgate Street, just across the road from the Criminal Courts. The journey starts with a visit to Dublin Zoo, then proceeds to the Áras and finally concludes at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre.

A Long-Awaited Solution

For many years, the lack of public transportation within Phoenix Park has been a concern for both visitors and residents. The launch of the 99 Bus represents a significant milestone in addressing this issue. As someone who has been involved in campaigning for better transport options within the park, I am thrilled to see this initiative come to life.

While the introduction of the 99 Bus service is a fantastic step forward, there is always room for improvement. I have engaged with the National Transport Authority (NTA) to discuss the possibility of extending the route even further within the park. Specifically, I've advocated for an extension towards Farmleigh and the Castleknock Gate, which would provide access to more of Phoenix Park's hidden gems.

The launch of the 99 Bus is a milestone worth celebrating for anyone who loves Phoenix Park. This new service not only makes it easier for people to explore the park's attractions but also sets the stage for potential expansions in the future. As we move forward, we can look forward to even more accessible and sustainable ways to enjoy this cherished green space in the heart of Dublin.
