Over the past year, Fingal County Council has been drawing together plans which will act as a guide for any future development within Blanchardstown Village. The Council has recently published the Blanchardstown Village Draft Urban Design Framework Plan and are now seeking public comments on its contents.
The Framework Plan deals with a wide range of topics including traffic & movement within the village, the future use of the Tolka Valley, the possibility of links to the Blanchardstown Town Centre and whether new development should be permitted on sites in the village.
Perhaps most controversially, the Framework Plan suggests that high development of 5 or 6 stories could be permitted on a number of sites in the village, including the Superquinn site (page 31) , the Bell pub (page 45) and opposite the new Garda Station (page 51).
The deadline for submissions is Thursday, 17th December. Submissions can be made online – email@example.com or by post to the Senior Executive Officer, Planning Department, Fingal County Council, County Hall, Swords, Co. Dublin.
While I realise that the run up to Christmas is a busy time, I would encourage all residents of the village to have a look at the current draft proposals, and if you have views on them, make a short submission to Fingal County Council.
