Myself and Cllr Darragh Butler at the launch of the Stay’in Alive at 1.5 campaign

On Sunday I attended the launch by Fingal of the Stayin’ Alive at 1.5 safety campaign for cyclists. The campaign was launched at Swords Castle, with a cycle from Swords to Skerries and back.

I’m delighted that Fingal is giving such strong support to the Stayin’ Alive at 1.5 safety campaign. This campaign was initiated by Wexford cyclist Phil Skelton and aims to educate motorists to leave more space when overtaking cyclists on road. As well as this launch, Fingal will be highlighting the campaign through stickers attached to the entire Fingal fleet of vehicles.

Since I was elected to the County Council in 2014, I have continually highlighted that Fingal can take a major role in providing a safer environment for people to use their bicycles for commuting or for pleasure. The strong endorsement by Fingal of the Stayin’ Alive at 1.5 campaign is a hugely positive step and one I welcome.
